β-SulfurThe structure to the left shows the unit cell that we are familiar with in black, and an equivalent unit cell in yellow with zinc rather than sulfide ions at the corner positions. The relationship of the yellow cell to the black cell is that the latter has been displaced along a sulfide to zinc bond. We will consider the yellow unit cell in isolation on the next page.
